OFFICERS OF THE BOARD for 2012
PRESIDENT = MICHELE MATZEN
VICE-PRESIDENT = ELAINE THOMAS
SECRETARY = ROBIN BORG
Horses have been my passion as long as I can remember, and at the age of eleven my parents purchased for me my first horse. I have lived in the Rogue Valley my whole life and have many fond memories of riding in the Pear Blossom and 4th of July Parades as well as showing and trail riding all over the valley. I have only been riding dressage for the past six years and am hopelessly addicted! Horses, as well as the friendships I have made surrounding this sport, have been such a blessing in my life. I also enjoy the educational opportunities and fellowship that comes along with belonging to a dressage chapter .
TREASURER = SHERRY WALKER
DIRECTOR AT LARGE = SONJA BIADA
I discovered dressage in 1995 while living in Marin County, CA. I had been working with horses for about 18 years but was looking for something new to do with one of my horses. In 2003 my husband and I moved to Southern Oregon. I had been involved with the California Dressage Society while living in California, and wanted to find the dressage community upon moving here. I enjoy being involved with the dressage club for several reasons: as a means of supporting the sport I love; in order to stay in touch with the dressage events offered in the area; to get to know other people who share this passion.
DIRECTOR AT LARGE: ED MILLER
I took up dressage seriously around 1999 after moving to Southern Oregon from the Washington D.C. area and have been active in the State of Jefferson Chapter since then. I have served on the Board of Directors and have held offices of President, Treasurer, ODS Representative and now Vice President. Through SJODS I became involved with the Oregon Dressage Society, first as Chapter representative, then subsequently Southern Regional Representative, Director-at-Large. I have been the ODS President Elect and am currently the ODS President. I’ve represented ODS on the USDF Board of Governors for the past 5 years. I will be showing my homebred Trakhener, Lord of the Ring (Gandy), at Prix St. Georges in 2011. My other homebred, a Swedish Warmblood, Rochollar (Rocco) will be showing at Training level
DIRECTOR AT LARGE: CAROL TAYLOR
I have loved horses and been happily and totally involved with them since I was a child. I owned and rode my horses through theOaklandhills, in a drill team, in parades, in play days and sets of four into my high school years. I got back into horses 35 years ago and discovered dressage. I was hooked and remain a committed addict. I’ve competed with my thoroughbred, three Dutch Warmbloods , including Fandango Ole’ , shown in the photo here when I had retired toSouthern Oregon, and most recently my Norwegian Fjord mare, Tialda. My home bred Dutch gelding Wishper, a nephew to Fandango, and currently being trail ridden, is my next dressage project; so look for us next year at the shows! I enjoy working with my local dressage chapters and have served on the state boards of CDS and ODS. I believe it is important to provide opportunities for amateur dressage riders and that is why I participate in and support our State ofJefferson Chapter
